TARMACKING RUAMBWA-MAUMAU-MUSOMA BEACH ROAD: Our Next Big Target... Last month I promised to give some update on our efforts to have the Ruambwa-Maumau-Musoma Beach road upgraded to bitumen standard. Well, I have some good news. We have succeeded in getting the road included in the annuity program of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) in the current 2014/15 fiscal period. Contractors have already surveyed the road, and the bidding process is progressing well. From my discussions with the KENHA Director-General, Eng. Kidenda, barring any unforeseen circumstances, a contractor should be on site by February/March 2015. Meanwhile we remain firmly on track with our other mega projects: Sigiri Bridge bidding concludes on 30th November. Accelerated construction of priority facilities at our new university campus is within the set deadlines. Classes start in January, 2015 as planned. I have held talks with the top management of KERRA and GOGNI-RAJOPE, respectively, and been assured that works on Manyasi-Ruambwa-Nambengele-Port Victoria-Bukoma Beach road should be accelerated in the next two weeks.... #BUDALANGIRISING!
