#TAS #Flood #Corp Note: This Flood Watch is a heads up for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. FLOOD WATCH FOR THE HUON RIVER AND LOWER RIVER DERWENT Issued at 2:43 pm EST on Friday 8 August 2014 By the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart Initial Flood Watch for the Huon River and the Lower River Derwent A cold front to cross the state will bring showers about the south and west from late Saturday morning onwards. Falls of up to 20mm are expected about the upper parts of the Huon, Styx, Tyenna and Plenty river catchments overnight Saturday. Catchments are saturated and river levels, mainly in the upper reaches, are expected to rise sharply with localised minor flooding possible overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required. FloodSafe advice is available at ses.tas.gov.au Road closure information is available at police.tas.gov.au For emergency assistance call the SES on telephone number 132 500. For life threatening situations, call 000 immediately. Weather Forecast: Scattered showers from late Saturday morning, falling as snow above 1000 metres at Saturday night.
