#TASMANIA MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR HUON RIVER bit.ly/12EQsJY Issued at 4:01 pm EST on Sunday 21 July 2013 by the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart Flood Warning Number: 2 The Huon River is expected to approach the minor flood level at Tahune by early Monday morning, with areas of minor flooding extending into the lower reaches about Judbury and Huonville late Monday. For the 24 hours to 3 PM Sunday 20mm - 60 mm of rain has fallen in the catchment and the forecast is for another 20 to 25mm over the next 12 hours. Stream rises are now being observed in the Picton River and the upper reaches of the Huon catchment. Upper Huon River Stream rises are now occurring in the upper reaches of the Huon river. Picton River Strong rises in the Picton River have been observed above Farmhouse creek. Tahune to Judbury The Huon River at Tahune Bridge is now rising and is expected to approach the minor flood level by early Monday morning. Areas of minor flooding to extend into the lower reaches about Judbury and Huonville late Monday. Huonville township Localised flooding in adjacent rivers, creeks and low lying areas are possible during Sunday as a result of high rainfall totals observed in the last 24 hours and abnormally high tides predicted on Sunday evening. Predicted River Heights/Flows: Based solely on forecast rainfall the following river heights are predicted: Huon River at Tahune Bridge 3.8 - 4.2 metres (MINOR) early Monday morning 22/7/2013. Huon River at Judbury 3.1 -3.6 metres Monday morning 22/7/2013 Huon River at Huonville 2.7 - 3.0 metres Monday 22/7/2013 FloodSafe advice is available at ses.tas.gov.au.
