TAT Tribal Chairman candidates, Damon Williams and Mark Fox were each asked if they supported - or opposed - the current tribal councils resolution to determine if the TAT tribal council can control the water rights of individual tribal landowners/allottees on Fort Berthold. Yet the current tribal council has never quantified the tribal governments water rights of the Missouri River. Instead, the current tribal council wants to take ownership of the springs, groundwater, or surface waters on allotted lands and also establish a limit of how much water each individual Ft Berthold tribal landowner is allowed. As TAT Tribal Chairman candidates, Damon Williams is a licensed tribal attorney for the Three Affiliated Tribes - with an Environmental Law degree. Mark Fox is the Tribal Tax Commissioner and also the director of the TAT tribal councils Section 17 water development corporation.
