TAU GAMMA PHI Triskelions’ Grand Fraternity PRESS STATEMENT 1 July 2014 STOP SENSELESS VIOLENCE AGAINST MAN The Tau Gamma Phi is deeply troubled by news reports that some members of the fraternity have been involved in fatal hazing of Guillo Cesar Servando, a student of La Salle – College of St. Benilde. It regrets that some of its chapters may not have abided by the fraternity’s “no hazing” policy thus resulted to this unfortunate incident. The officers and members of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity offer their deepest condolences to the family of Guillo Cesar Servando. They sincerely empathize with the grief and loss of the family of Guillo Cesar as they themselves are also parents and cannot bear to lose their sons in a nonsensical manner. They are truly saddened that this incident had to happen. The Tau Gamma Phi strongly condemns the violence inflicted against Guillo Cesar Servando. The fraternity does not and will not condone this kind of incident. It is presently conducting its own internal investigation and will actively and fully cooperate with the investigating authorities to bring those involved to justice. As a fraternity founded on principles and rationality, and NOT ON VIOLENCE, all Tau Gamma Phi members are guided by its tenet, “First of all do not harm let alone in defense of self. For whatever reason man has come into being, to whatever purpose he exist, kin to all living creatures around him, MAN IS BROTHER UNTO MAN.” Moreover, the substance of the Anti-Hazing Law is already present in its constitution, still the fraternity enjoins its councils and chapters to strictly abide by the Anti-Hazing Law to ensure that no harm or physical violence is inflicted to applicant members of the fraternity. Finally once again, the Tau Gamma Phi sincerely condoles and sympathizes with the family of Guillo Cesar Servando, and joins all concerned citizens in seeking justice for Guillo Cesar.
