TAXI RANK Thanks is extended to all Residents who took the time to articulate your objections around the illegal Taxi Rank. The issue is dragging on and a "Meeting" is still to take place. For some reason, instead of applying the law we are being encouraged to "negotiate" with the Taxi Owners. It is against the law for Taxis to set up unauthorized Ranks. It is obvious the Owners are hell bent on bullying the Community into accepting their presence on a permanent basis. This without giving us an opportunity to put forward our thoughts/objections. In this climate of lawlessness, with the authorities reluctant to get involved, drastic action is required. It has been suggested that the community mobilize and render the area on the corner inaccessible. Placing rocks, barriers etc and even planting indigenous trees are some of the ideas proposed. If Residents have any other suggestions, vehicles, equipment and time to offer as Volunteers please let us know. The idea is to prevent access to the area entirely. Without a definitive solution this situation will make living in our Sector intolerable, not to mention the effect it will have on property prices.
