TBHT...As we prepare to say farewell to our president, Id like to address a few concerns that I have in regards to the mixed bag of emotions/opinions concerning his election/re-election. Last week, I shared that I dont talk politics with strangers but were all friends right? First off, lets discuss the misconceived notion ,that some black people have, that once President Obama was elected he would champion only black issues and represent the black struggle. What planet are you people on? If President Obama entered the White House channelling Marcus Garvey, he would have been ousted and/or assassinated. His job isnt to side with one nationality or group of people. His job is to represent us ALL. Secondly, I have no intention of detailing all the GOOD he has done during his presidency . Lest not forget our previous leader and his continuous neglect of any American issue. We, the people werent his first priority. So please spare me the comparison of President Obama and Bush. Thirdly, direct your anger at those that make the President s job that much harder. Our President had lots of ideas to move our country forward but he was constantly roadblocked by his constituents. Do your research. Learn the chain of command of our government, then formulate an intelligent thought and stop with all your idle chatter. Lastly, all those black people that say, we got him in the White house. and now he turned his back. on us. sound ridiculous. If the election was determined by black votes he wouldnt be our President. The beauty of the Obama Movement is that ALL nationalities, from various economic backgrounds and life experiences joined together and made their voices heard. We the people were ready for a President that reflected AMERICA. We the people were ready for change to move us forward. We the people were ready to see diversity in higher offices to reflect the diversity in our communities. I have no regrets for working the polls, making calls, going door to door on behalf our President. I was taking part of history in the making, while the rest of you were brewing up conspiracy theories. Our President has aged considerably over the last eight years. His temples are gray. Lines are edged in his face. Hes lost weight. What I want is for each of you that believes he hasnt done enough, ask yourselves what would you have done differently? He has EARNED our RESPECT and ALLEGIANCE. He has spoken for every AMERICAN that didnt have a voice before. Take your ear buds out and listen. Youre missing out on the melodic sounds of progress.
