TBS Fan Question, please share your experiences and any advice for this mama: My daughter just turned one. She goes to daycare and we were just informed that she has to start eating the meals/snacks/drinks that the daycare provides. My daughter has a hard time tolerating dairy so we limit her dairy. She does not drink juice, only water and milk. Our belief is that she receive her calories and nutrients from foods (juice is served twice per day) not fluids. We provide a very healthy, natural and organic diet to our child. We do not wish to push our beliefs on anyone nor do we expect others to follow what we believe. My question is, is this normal for daycares to not allow outside foods and drinks? We do not bring in any foods that people are often allergic to (eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, coconut) and do not bring in any type of food that is not on their current menu. Our daughter has not been exposed to nitrates (often found in hot dogs, deli meats, etc.) or artificial food coloring (fruit snacks, cheese-its, etc.) or BPA (no foods come from canned goods), etc. She has the ideal amount of calories, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, and other vitamins and minerals everyday and what we are doing is really working for her. She is not deprived of anything. I dont want to disrupt that. I dont want to introduce anything harmful or unnecessary into her diet at such a young age. What should I do? Please help! And please note: I am not saying what other parents/centers are doing is wrong. I have no judgment of others in my heart. I have had my fair share of health problems and just want to avoid as many as possible for my daughter. Thank you so much.
