TBT - August, 2008. This is an interesting story. Radiohead announced that they were touring for the first time in four years. The first two dates were in West Palm Beach and Tampa. My friend/housemate and I managed to score some killer seats for both Florida shows via the bands fan pre-sale. The Florida shows were great but more for an emotional reasons. Started off in WPB with Michelle (friend/then housemate) and then made our way back to Tampa to see the show with Starr Kendall-Cronin (whom I bought a ticket for). For Starr and I, the Tampa show was a cathartic experience as we had been dealing with the illness and, ultimately, passing of my Dad. Hearing Thom Yorke sing Videotape into the heavens with that haunting piano riff behind just made it all the more magical. Soon after the East coast leg was done, they had announced a summer leg for the West with a two nights stand at the Hollywood Bowl. I had decided that since I hadnt seen my brother Levi since Dads passing, I needed to go see and hang out with him. The Sunday night show was the first of many: The first time Ive been to a show at the bowl. The first show my older brother and I have ever been together. Levis first Rock concert. An enjoyable experience on the Hollywood hills. We get to the Monday night show. This is a solo outing this time. It was very apparent that much of the A List Celebrities (Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguleira, Leonardo Di Caprio) were at the show the night before. And that continued into this show, where I was met with one Ted Theodore Logan (aka Keanu Reeves). And yes, hes just as much of an idiot in real life as he is in film. Honestly, this story is told better in person but what the hell? I was waiting in the que when someone pointed out to me that Keanu was sitting underneath the oak tree. Mind you, I dont get star struck or geeked out by meeting a celebrity. So I tried to treat him/her as any average Joe/Jane. Took it upon myself to go up and say hi. Hey Keanu as I extended my right hand. He extends his with a hello but shaking his hand was like trying to shake hands with a corpse. Rather limp. The rest of the chat went like this: Me: did you catch last nights gig? Keanu: no Me: oh. Thats cool. Have you a favorite Radiohead album? Keanu: I dont have one. Me: how about a favorite Radiohead track? Keanu: I dont have one. Now Im standing looking at him and thinking then what the hell are you doing here? I just smiled and said enjoy the show, turned around and walked back to the cue.....
