#TBT - For todays throwback, I went back to some old videos on my YouTube Channel. Ive been thinking a lot lately about the blessings in my life - music being a huge one. This video was from one of my very first concerts that I did after releasing Key of Sea (my debut album) in 2007. I had released the album earlier that year and my friend Michele McLaughlin and I decided, hey, why not do a concert together?! And so we rented out a small concert hall at Baldassin Pianos in Salt Lake City, UT that seated about 100 people, sold tickets, and practiced our fingers off. We were both incredibly nervous, but we sold out the entire concert and even had to bring in extra chairs for people who just showed up. We got to perform on one of the most beautiful Fazioli pianos wed ever played on and had a really great experience. 7 years, 3 albums, multiple awards, and experiences later...I look back on these experiences at the beginning of my music career as stepping stones which have brought me to where I am now and where I hope to continue going. I have thought a lot lately about a quote I recently read about living your life with purpose. And I have asked myself what is the purpose of putting so much effort into my music? Is it to make money? Is it to just do what I love to do? And truth be told, I want to have a positive impact in peoples lives. I want to put out quality uplifting music. I want to inspire young pianists and composers. I want to show moms that you can still pursue your passions while raising a family. I want people to feel closer to God through my music. And I want my music to simply have a positive effect on people, on someone, anyone. Including myself. Whatever benefits come from that, is just a bonus. But I do music because I love it and want to share it. P.S. If you want to skip the whole intro section with us just backstage, start at 2:02 and I play A Beautiful Storm. youtu.be/hq5-3ZX8tPg?list=UUCLJvCZ94E8B-7uxh34muQw
