TBT 1998 my first solo startup, Personable. The idea was that everybody you knew was a file on your computer, showing up as a little icon on your desktop (or in a folder) as a picture of their head or other funny avatar that you selected. Want to email, phone, or text them? Simply right-click their icon. Send a file by dragging and dropping it on them. Share a contact just like sharing a file. You didnt have to know whether they were at work, home, on traveling. The system figured out how to find them. Sort of an universal directory application that disappeared into the operating system. For the bit heads, it was C, C++, COM, Win32, Oracle, http, Shell extensions, MFC, and RPC. Fun times. (Tagging some of my startup friends. Apologies if youre annoyed. I usually never tag like this.)
