TBT: In 1928 Mother Immaculate Tremmel was superior general of the congregation. Her religious life after profession in 1880 took her to every kind of ministry in which the congregation was engaged. In 1882 she went to St. Mary School in Salem, New Jersey, as a teacher where she learned firsthand how powerful the Ku Klux Klan could be. From there she moved to an African American mission in St. Peters Church in Wilmington, Delaware. The photo shown here was her first western pioneer mission St. Aloysius School in Lewiston, Idaho which she opened with two other sisters.
