TBT. In April 1969 I had gotten aboard a purple Braniff Airline in preparation for my flight back to the good ole USA and discharge from South Viet Nam. The sirens at Da Nang rang out and everyone was ordered off the plane do to incoming rockets. Myself and another guy had determined that this plane was not going to leave us, lol, we were the only ones that stayed on board. The attacked lasted about 20 minutes. We had walked up front and helped ourselves to the minatures, it is amazing how many you can drink in a short period of time, lol. Eventually the plane took off, the pictures below, taken from anout 5 miles away, were taken that night and the next morning after we left, they were sent to me by a friend after I had gotten home. I understand the Da Nang airstrip was closed for several day, an ammo storage area at the end of the runway was hit and heavily damaged.
