TBT Melissa Brabender-Whelpley, Allison Clifford, and I, meeting Barbie and the Rockers at the JCPenneys in the Kitsap Mall circa 1985. Missy was my first best gal pal, she moved in next door when I was in kindergarten and she was in the first grade. Lots of bouncing back and forth to each others houses, thats for sure. When I hit first grade and Missy was in second, we would walk to school together and she used to come over to the first grade classes after school and get me so we could walk home together, she didnt care that I was a lowly first grader :) Haha This was good too cause my brother had no problem ditching me :) I moved after first grade and our families lost touch. When Missy passed away almost three years ago, I remember looking at her FB page, reading all the kind words her family and friends had written (and still write to this day, actually) and not being surprised that Missy had grown up to be as kind and considerate as she was when were kids. Thank you, Cindy Brabender, for posting this to my wall the other day. At the time, Im sure we thought that that was the best day of our lives :)
