TBT The year was 1963. We were off to church and Dad wanted to take a family photo. He had just accepted a job to run Ship Repair Facility at Subic Bay Naval Air Station on the Island of Luzon, Philippines. This photo was snapped at our house on Shell Circle in Westminster, California. Left to right are my brother, Randy Conrads, the man who founded Classmates, sold it, and now owns Redweek (Google him); my father Jack Conrads; me in my high-fashion, illy fit suit; my beautiful mother Lillian; my younger sister Gail, who manages Healhtquest in Napa Valley, California as well as a real estate reconstruction business with Randy in the Valley; and my older sister Nancy. Hard to believe that three of us are entrepreneurs who have succeeded wildly in this world. I want to believe it was the strict family rules that my father imposed that caused us to take chances, risk it all, and push our dreams as far as possible, but more than likely, it was by design in our gene pool. The second picture is the same house. I shot this image November, 2013, almost exactly 50 years to the day of the first photo. I had been surfing for two weeks with friends and wanted to find our old home before I pointed the car north to Napa Valley to go see Gail. The garage door has been replaced...several times, for sure...and the rock façade around the garage has been replaced with stucco. In 1963, there was a huge strawberry farm to the right that we used to salvage fruit that was left after the commercial picking. Today, the place is nothing but homes, strip malls, stores selling trinkets and trash, and is pretty much now a Thai neighborhood. Time rolls on. And now its time for me to practice yoga, work out, and get some work done. Have a wonderful day...
