TBT... This was Barrys debut album in 1973. I remember the day my mom brought the album home and I stared at the enormous cover and this giant man holding in his hands universal women. I was 7 years old and my mom was 31. While playing with my lil brother Randy I would watch her playing this album over and over on her new state of the art stereo that we were forbidden to touch, and I did so anyway. She sat on the sofa doing nothing in particular and wistfully looking far off into space and singing along (she has a beautiful singing voice, that wasnt passed on to me). I noticed the lush orchestration, the sublime string section, the lyrics, his voice, and the loving sentiment he conveyed, and I was transfixed too. This album was the prelude to my learning about LOVE, DEVOTION, and HONESTY. Johnny Mathis was her MAN as a teenager, Barry became her MAN as a woman. Whenever I want to calm her nerves about going to surgery I play those two gentlemen instantly!!! If u have ever loved someone deeply to your very core AND had that someone return their love to u in a million ways, or conversely u loved deeply, but it wasnt returned quite the way u felt it should have been returned, then I give to u Barry Whites Ive Got So Much To Give on TBT... Sweet Surrender.
