#TBT map points at the record shop, discrete directions hotline, finding the building in some dark offshoot part of SF, no permits, no security, just a bunch of kids ready to get their party on at this illegal event mixed with excitement and fear of getting shut down by the police. And the music, so simple new and raw, a recent import from across the pond with its synthesized mayhem, before the big commercial festivals, before stadium seating raves. This is the EDM scene we came from. The early rave days of the late 90s, where no one expected to get famous for making dance music, they just expected more dancing.
