TC Iselle is currently a Category 1 hurricane, approximately 255 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. Maximum sustained wind speeds were 81 mph, with higher gusts near 98 mph. The current track brings Iselle through Big Island later today, and just to the south of the other islands later tonight through Friday. TC Julio is a Category 2 hurricane, approximately 1235 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii. Julio had maximum sustained winds near 105 mph, with higher gusts. Julio is expected to be a tropical storm as it approaches the Hawaiian Islands later this weekend. Rainfall could be the most threatening weather influence, unless it remains far enough offshore. At this point, it appears that Julio’s center may stay over 100 miles to the north and northeast of Hawaii. TC Genevieve has rapidly intensified over the past 24 hours, increasing from 65 knots all the way up to 140 knots. This is now a Super Typhoon, in the western Pacific, approximately 692 miles west of Johnston Island. In the northwest Pacific, TC Halong is at Typhoon strength approximately 480 NM south of Iwakuni, Japan. Expected to make landfall in Japan, Halong will bring heavy weather, including blustery winds and flooding rainfall, along with high surf and storm surge. Finally, there’s an area being referred to as Invest 98E that remains active south of the Mexican coast with a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. There’s very little threat to the southern Mexican coast, especially considering the fact that models move it west or northwest in direction.
