TD JAKES (Trinitarian/Modalist Christian Preacher) and DEEPAK CHOPRA (New Age Guru) teamed up in the Spring to give their spiritual insight designed to help you reach your greatest potential. What was their combined message? TD Jakes taught his usual Destiny message, while Deepak Chopra taught his usual New Age Synchro-destiny message and wouldn’t ya know it…..they’re exactly the same. In both Jakes and Chopra’s teachings, both Destiny and Synchro-destiny are the result when you come to realize that the events of your life have or can have a greater purpose. Once that greater purpose is realized, you can then begin to move into what you begin to see as your destiny. Jakes begins by saying, “I want to develop the PART OF YOU that is necessary for you to soar like an eagle and accomplish your destiny….WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO DO TO ACCOMPLISH our highest and best SELF. Christ is not mentioned. Chopra’s take on destiny is taught in the form of Karma vs. Destiny. Chopra says Karma, is experience and the interpretation of experience which defines a person’s life. It is to be locked into a mindset by interpreting past experiences without seeing any greater purpose. To realize there is a deeper meaning to the past experiences and that there is more and better for you is to move from a life governed by past experience and realize that those experiences were necessary to move you into your greater purpose and destiny. This realization can only come by forces beyond yourself (The Universe, The Source, The Field, God, etc) causing you look into your deeper self to realize there’s a greater purpose and then move toward that purpose and on to fulfill your destiny. Both Jakes and Chopra came to the identical same conclusions on how to develop your Higher Self and fulfill your destiny from two supposed different, yet strikingly similar points of view. They both taught to let go of the past and see it only as vehicle to get you where you are, so you can move on from where you are and into to your ultimate purpose and destiny. Now, isn’t that special? Make no mistake….the self-centered destiny message being preached today is NOT the message of the bible. Destiny is NOT the same message as the “Will of God” for your life. If you think it is, you’re deceived and if you’ve preached that to others, you have perpetuated that deception. It is a self centered Humanistic, New Age message that has no place whatsoever in the church. Pastors and evangelists, if you have been caught up in this destiny/purpose/Higher self/better you/self-centered message, ask Christ to forgive you for unknowingly perverting His gospel and apologize to the church.
