Special thanks to Shaykh Ustadh Saad Tasleem ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Evil Twins : Jealousy & Envy ᴴᴰ - Must Watch [Sheikh Saad Tasleem] Jealousy and envy is basically when you see someone has something and you want it for yourself. Islamically, there is a concept known as hasad. Hasad is similar to jealousy and envy, expect in hasad, you not only want what they have, but you also want that they dont have it. For example, lets say you know someone who has more friends than you on Facebook or more followers on twitter. Hasad is you wanting more followers and friends than they have and that they have less. Thus, whatever they have and theyve been blessed with be taken away from them. Its normal for people to feel jealous or envious of others when you see theyve been blessed with certain things. The best possible tip I have for you, whenever youre feeling jealous or envious make a very simple dua (supplication/prayer to Allah). That dua is, Allahumma zid wa barik Youre saying, O Allah, increase them in what youve given them and put blessings in it. It may seem counter intuitive. If Im jealous of them, why would I ask Allah to give them more? Theres benefit in this. When you make dua for someone else, we know the angels make the same dua for you. When you ask Allah to increase them in what they have, youre making dua for yourself as well. Also, when you make dua for someone else, you release the negative feelings you have toward them. Youre realize that jealousy and envy is very poisonous for the soul. It makes an individual very uneasy. When you make this dua, youll feel this release from your soul. Youll feel this positivity. And, in sha Allahu tala, youre on the road to get closer to Allah subhanahu wa tala. And, Allah knows best. Until next time... Asalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa brakatuhu
