TEA PARTY LEADER RESPONDS TO REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT CLAIMS AGAINT TEA PARTY IN POLITICO ARTICLE Akron, OH - Tom Zawistowski, Executive Director of the Portage County TEA Party and President of the We the People Convention and the Ohio Citizens PAC, responded today to statements in a Politico article detailing a purported “tipping point” being achieved by the Republican Establishment in the 2014 election between “moderate” and “TEA Party” Republicans. In the article Senate GOP Whip John Cornyn and Steven Law from American Crossroads try to make the case that a Republican takeover of the Senate this election will demonstrate that the “party had experienced a “very, very important evolution” this year — one from which it would not turn back.” Zawistowski responded by saying, “For Cornyn to say that TEA Party Republicans are a small sliver of the Republican party and that we insisted on nominating people who could win the primary but couldn’t win the general shows both his ignorance and his dishonesty in continuing to sell a lie about the 2012 election that only media and the uniformed in the Republican Party continue to buy. Fact, even according to a May 8, 2014 Gallop Poll: TEA Party Republicans represented 41% of all Republicans - hardly a small sliver. They can’t win without us no matter how much money they extort from donors. Fact: In 2012, Establishment Senate Candidates lost more races than TEA Party Candidates, and by larger margins, despite Chief RINO herder Carl Rove spending a BILLION dollars on their candidates. Ever since 2012 they have been trying to distract the gullible GOP donors by trying to blame the TEA Party, when Rove and Company deserve all the blame because they not only did NOTHING to support TEA Party Republicans after they won 2012 Senate primaries fair and square, but they actually undermined them. Proving once again that they would rather have a Democrat win than a Conservative Republican they don’t control.” Zawistowski went on to say, “The fact of the matter is that the only reason the races in North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, Georgia and others are even close is because of the pathetic candidates the Republican Establishment puts up year after year. They are trying to make the case that being moderate is the key to success, when all it does is give Democrats a chance in races that they should have no chance to win - like Kansas. Then again, moving to the middle sure helps keep those races close so the consulting class can shake down donors, which is what its really all about isnt it? Theirr stated position in the Politico article is laughable, as indicated by the literal begging being done by the Establishments spokesmen all over the county and in the media for TEA Party Republicans to “Please, please vote for RINO X, Y or Z!” Well if the Republican Party has evolved so much, how come they can’t win without our votes?” Zawistowski concluded with a warning for the Establishment: “I’ve got news for Cornyn and Law and the rest of the Establishment. If they think what happens in this election gives them the green light to push a Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush or Chris Christie down our throats in 2016, they better think again because they will lose again. The 2016 Republican Convention in Cleveland may look like the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago if they don’t get right with the Republican Party National Platform and the values and beliefs of registered Republican voters going forward. The gulf between the elite governing class, which is how the Republican Establishment see themselves, and the members of their party has never been greater. Ignore us at your own peril, as they may learn painfully in Kansas on Tuesday and again in 2016.” ##
