TEAM TRAGIC BUSH PIG SIZES UP FOR 2015 Hi Clubby & Tania: Happy New Year to you and all the rest of the Tragics. Unlike previous years, Ive stayed away from the traditional New Year resolutions to lose weight, get fit, be a nicer person etc, and settled on some resolutions that I might actually keep. Resolution No. 1: With less than 60 days until kick off for the Dividing Range Run, pull my finger out and get at least one of my Teneres read to ride. Resolution No. 2: Ride more. Resolution No. 3: Tidy up / clean out my shed and maybe even sell some stuff, like do I really need more than 60 bikes? Resolution No. 4: Finish some of the multitude of project bikes that are laying around in various stages of completion. So far, all of one day into the new year and I am off to a flying start, with two resolutions in the bag. Just before 8am this morning I fought my way into the shed and started preparing the ’96 XTZ660 Tenere for the Dividing Range Run. I patched up the broken fairing with good old fibreglass, and made up the RH side mount for the new Wolfman saddle bags. I still need to finish the LH mounting frame, fit the braided stainless-steel brake lines, fit new chain and sprockets, fit new tyres and carry out a full complete a full service. Resolution No. 1: “Check”. Still a bit to do, but I have made a start. Please note: NO FARKLES will be used, only truly necessary accessories will be fitted. I also managed to get out for a ride. With all of the trusty Teneres un-registered at present, I took the next best thing, my even trustier 1976 XT500C, out for a 200km cruise on around the local dirt roads. One of the great joys of living in the country is that as soon as I exit my driveway I am effectively adventure riding and during the three hours I was out riding I don’t think I went further than 25km from home. Resolution No. 2: “Check” Resolutions 3 and 4 will probably take a bit more effort, and I will just have to wait and see how I go with them, but don’t hold your breath waiting to hear I have ticked them off the list, they are after all just New Year resolutions. Looking forward to seeing everyone in March. – Col, aka Tragic #6 P.S. Before you comment on the XT500 not fitting the Bushpig image, please note that I only finished a full refurbishment of the old girl 8 weeks ago. To see how she used to look, check out TZ issue 19, page 35, and Issue 22, page 96. Now CJ, congrats on setting your New Years resolutions – and actually getting out and achieving a couple already. You will be an inspiration to Tragics near and far. Love the thundering XT500C ... but what gives with the low-rider front guard ... dare we categorise that as a FARKLE??? See you soon atop the Great Divide! – Clubby aka Captain Tragic
