TEAR Fieldworker in Kathmandu, Lyn Jackson, on the effects of climate change in Nepal, and the effect of our Australian lifestyles on poor communities: Because of ignorance and greed, complacency and sense of entitlement, our societies are stealing from the poor, and from future generations. Were taking away the tomorrows of too many people, people who matter to God, people he calls us to protect... I dont want to be part of stealing the tomorrows of the poor. But I doubt my ability to live simply, so that others may simply live. I know how seductive consumerism is, how subtly it undermines our resolve and directs our choices.
