TEARS IN MY EYES AGAIN TODAY On a continuing trend of positivity and forward steps, today on arriving at Papworth Hospital to visit Dad, I was delighted to see a massive smile on Mums face! Having stopped the sedation yesterday morning Dad has now just about started opening his eyes and I was truly delighted as he did so when I went in to see him, I had a tears in my eyes again. He is still extremely drowsy and not yet able to squeeze hands on command however he will just about open his eyes. He still remains on the ventilator and dialysis machine however the support provided by the balloon pump is slowly reducing as are some of the medicines supporting his blood pressure. I am hopeful that he will be fully able to open his eyes and with luck start to begin taking some of his own breaths in addition to those provided by the ventilator. Thank you all once again for your messages of support and best wishes for Dad. We are keeping him informed of all of these and responded positively to them today so please keep them coming. Another big thank you the the team looking after Dad, we are so grateful for you dedication and expertise. Expect cakes tomorrow!! Can I possibly once again ask all family members to share this post so as to keep everybody updated. Also, if you would like to get in touch then please can I ask that you contact either myself or Gem for obvious reasons, additionally as mentioned before the phone signal at the hospital is extremely poor. As always, if you have not already then please register with the NHS Organ Donation Campaign, you can also register your wishes on Facebook and on the Medical ID on your iPhone in iOS 8. Please also consider donating to British Heart Foundation via the link on the left hand side of my page. We have so far reached £2,312 of our £20,000 target.
