TECHNICALLY....A blizzard warning is issued when sustained winds - TopicsExpress

TECHNICALLY....A blizzard warning is issued when sustained winds or gusts reach 35mph and there is considerable blowing snow for a period of 3hrs or longer...therefore no Blizzard Warning has been officially issued by the NWS, HOWEVER, after just trekking through northern Indiana and lower Michigan to get to South Bend, I am telling you...CONDITIONS OUTSIDE ARE BLIZZARD LIKE. I was on 31, 94, 80/90 and white out conditions are commonplace, roads are like a sheet of ice and winds are still howling. So please plan to get home, stay home and enjoy the night tucked in under the covers or stoke up a big fire if you have a fireplace. It is BRUTAL outside tonight and those conditions will prevail through the day on Thursday. If you plan to drive further north in Michigan, think again...heavier snow up near Grand Rapids. THE CONDITIONS YOU SEE RIGHT NOW WILL STICK AROUND UNTIL FRIDAY. PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS...
