TEEN COURT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED McAllen Teen Court is looking for volunteers for the coming year. Teen Court was established to add a new dimension of diversion, accountability and responsibility to the Juvenile Justice System. This year’s program centers around the judicial process as a whole and invites students to take part in “mock trials” that will enhance their knowledge of the legal system and develop their analytical and critical thinking skills. Cases considered in Teen Court include traffic violations and some Class C offenses such as fighting, assaults, curfew and shoplifting (under $50.00). The most common violations are no driver’s license, no insurance, red light, stop sign and speeding. The Court is comprised of jurors, attorneys, court clerks, bailiffs, witnesses, and defendants. High School or Middle School are eligible to volunteer for any position. When volunteers become seniors they may be eligible for a Teen Court Scholarship. Teen Court meets on Mondays starting at 5:00 p.m. For more information contact: Brenda Hernandez Court Clerk McAllen Municipal Court (956)-681-2900 Save the Date for: Teen Court Orientation 2014-2015 On September 20, 2014 @ 9:00 a.m. **IT IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE THAT YOU CONTACT BRENDA HERNANDEZ,TEEN COURT CLERK, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND.
