TEFL Programming and Training Specialist The Peace Corps first started its program in Georgia in 2001 and since then more than 500 volunteers have served in the regions of Georgia in the English Education program, the Individual and Organizational Development program, and the Peace Corps Response program. In addition, all volunteers also work in the areas of youth, gender, and technology. A new group of Volunteers arrives in Georgia every year. The fifteenth group of volunteers will arrive in Georgia in April of 2015. All volunteers will complete an 11 week intensive training course, which is called Pre-Service Training (PST), and following this training, volunteers will live and work in the regions of Georgia for two years. Position summary: The TEFL Programming and Training Specialist serves as a member of the Programming and Training Unit (PTU) staff and provides administrative, logistical, translation, training, and program support to the Director of Programming and Training (DPT), Program Managers (PMs) for the English Education program, and the Language and Cross-Culture Coordinator. He/she reports directly to the DPT. Major duties and responsibilities: ** Provide programmatic, training, and administrative support to the English Education project, directly supporting two Education Program Managers to fulfill the objectives of the project and to support volunteers working in this project. ** Provide technical (teaching) support to Volunteers through sharing relevant and available resources. Gives feedback to Volunteers with regard to their work performance, and provide advice and assistance to Volunteers and their counterparts and supervisors to enhance performance and collaboration. ** Work with Training Manager, Program Managers, and Technical Trainers in designing a comprehensive training strategy and implementation of quality training programs, including Pre-Service Training, In-Service Training, Mid-Service Training, Close of Service Conference and other related workshops or seminars. ** Provide administrative support for the Language and Cross Culture program at Peace Corps Georgia, supporting the Language and Cross Cultural Coordinator to fulfill the objectives of the program, and to learn Georgian, learn about Georgian culture, and teach about American culture. ** Will be responsible for rollout and oversight of the TEFL certificate program, which will eventually train volunteers to become certified TEFL instructors. ** Will be responsible for promoting and supporting Peace Corps Georgia Volunteers work in the cross-sector programming priorities of youth, gender, and technology as well as other special volunteer-led initiatives and activities. ** Other administrative, logistical, and knowledge management support for staff, including translation, filing, writing, editing, coordinating logistics, among others. Required qualifications: ** Advanced university Degree in English, Education, Teaching or other related field ** Experience in teaching languages, planning and conducting teacher trainings, and/or other educational programs ** Good knowledge of the education system structure and on-going reforms in general Education in Georgia ** Fluency in written and spoken English and Georgian ** Superb organizational skills ** Very good interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills ** Flexible, positive attitude, ability to work independently, ability to meet deadlines, and multi task ** Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively ** Ability to work in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Desired qualifications: ** Experience in working in an international organization or working with foreigners/Americans ** Experience in working with one or more of the following sectors: youth, gender, and/or technology ** Good understanding of Georgian and American cultures.
