TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES AT NEW PRESTON AVENUE SOUTH OVERPASS There will be some road openings and temporary closures at the new Preston Avenue South Overpass (these openings/closures are subject to change and weather permitting): The new Circle Drive westbound lanes from the Highway 11/16 cloverleaf opened on Tuesday, August 6. This means westbound traffic will travel under the new Preston Avenue overpass. Traffic will be able to travel westbound to downtown, as well as take the new Preston Avenue off-ramp where they can turn right to go north on Preston Avenue or left to head south on Preston Avenue across the new overpass. Eastbound traffic on Circle Drive will still continue on the current detour route. Traffic will still be able to turn left or right at the Preston Avenue overpass. Access to westbound Circle Drive from Preston Avenue will not be permitted. Traffic heading northbound on Preston Avenue from the Stonebridge area will not be able to turn left at the overpass to go west toward downtown. Traffic heading southbound on Preston Avenue will not be able to turn right to also go downtown. Motorists in this area wanting to head west on Circle Drive should take an alternate route to the Clarence Avenue overpass where they will be able to turn west on Circle Drive. Motorists may also take Taylor Street or 8th Street to get downtown. This closure is expected to be in effect until the middle of the month. The new Preston Avenue South overpass is expected to be fully open to motorists by October. Drivers are reminded to allow extra time when travelling through the orange zone, watch for pedestrians and work crews, and for everyone’s safety, please obey all detours, signs and barriers.
