TEPCO has already submitted an application to the Nuclear Regulation Authority to check two of the reactors to determine whether they meet new safety standards. The utility also indicated that unless these two reactors can be restarted in July or August, it needs to raise electricity charges by up to 10 percent by autumn. We are appalled at the company’s impetuous push to restart its nuclear reactors and its veiled threat of a rate hike.
