TEXTY BREAD (Todays Gospel) Nov.11,2014 St. Martin of Tours Luke 17:7-10 The Attitude of the Servant ...Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, Come here immediately and take your place at table? Would he not rather say to him, Prepare something for to eat. Put you apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was command? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done what we obliged too. AMEN! ...Happy to know that GODs will is done; serving GOD and everything is GODs grace...Jesus tells the story of a Pharisee who goes to the temple and starts enumerating his good works, separating himself from humanity (Luke 18:9-14). This kind of outlook Jesus correct. Man cannot make a just claim from GOD. No matter how much a person does in GODs service, he can do no more than what is due. The graces given us each day and the gift of salvation remains his gift. They are not rewards we deserve; we cannot work enough to merit them. We can only receive them in humility and thanksgiving. Human boasting is out of place in our relationship with GOD... REFLECTION: ...People who think other people owe them a lot tend to be least generous. Let us pray to the LORD to grant us a share of his infinite generosity. ... What is faith-life for us? A listing of the favors we have done for others, with the expectation in the end to receive our due from GOD? Do we think all our good works can buy our salvation? PRAYER: ...Lord, fill our hearts with love, gratitude and generosity. Make us a faithful and zealous servant for you. May we generously pour out our lives in loving service for you and for others, just as you have so generously poured yourself out for ..AMEN..
