TGIF everyone! Its Friday fact day and today we feature, by special request from Susan Couvillon Freasier, a Red eared slider turtle, Hadiyah! . Hadiyah was brought to us by Susan Couvillon Freasier and we were more than happy to take in Hadiyah! Red-eared sliders get their name from the distinctive red mark near their ear. They have the ability to slide off rocks and logs into the water; hence their name, slider. The gender of the Red-eared Slider is determined by the incubation temperature during development. Male offspring will result when the pond slider eggs are incubated at temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius and female offspirng will result while eggs are incubated at 31 degress Celsius. Hadiyah is a female. We hope you found this information fun and interesting. Lets give Hadiyah big sliding welcome! :-) ~Sonia V.~
