COPY PASTE EMAIL: Hi all (please forward this message to anyone on the committee or involved with the show that I may have omitted), I would like to say a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to every one of you for the amazing show that was WP Showing champs this weekend. I have to say that I thought that showing had died a complete and final death here in the Western Cape but wow, did you prove me wrong!!!! The show was brilliant in so many ways, it took a serious team of professional individuals to pull this off with such resounding success. The prizes that I won were nothing short of mind-blowing, I will be emailing every one of the sponsors after this to thank them individually for their contribution towards making WP champs the success that it was. Prizes that I won for winning a class were way better than what has been on offer for the longest time for winning a championship! And the sponsors seemed so proud to be a part of the show, I think the ongoing marketing that was done on Facebook played no small part in this. I got a message from Dawn Smorenburg, a previous sponsor of showing in the Western Cape saying that she was sad that she wasn’t asked to sponsor a prize – now where does that EVER happen!!!! I think the standard of the judging at the show was extremely high and also very transparent – I never heard a single person complaining that “it’s not fair” or “how did that horse win” which is a sure sign that the judges are doing a great job. The judges rode the horses extremely well and also kept the classes very organised and according to schedule even though they were dealing with far bigger classes than they have handled for many years in the Cape. It was great to have Greg Goss down to visit and judge for us, he really just adds an air of “grandness” to any class that he is judging. And Nicky is always so efficient and rode the horses like a superstar which wasn’t always so good for me – I had my fellow competitors in the show hunter class saying “now that’s how you should gallop your horse Dawn”!!! I thought I was faster than Pocket Power but apparently this was not the caseL. Tina your announcing throughout the show was both informative, amusing and very professional. Greg Goss said that you are most certainly the best announcer that he’s ever heard in South Africa if not the world and I imagine that he has seen most shows that there are to be seen!!! I know how exhausting this job is and to have maintained the level of energy that you did from beginning to end is not mean feat! Thank you and well done!!! I think Mistico was a great venue, there were a few logistical hurdles but I’m sure that these can be overcome for the next big show that they host – the benefits of the venue certainly outweighed the pitfalls. So once again, thank you to everyone concerned – I’m very pleased to see that a discipline that is very close to my heart is getting a new lease on life in the Western Cape!!!!
