THANK YOU EVERYONE for your considerate thoughts and concern for our environment along with the many scores of volunteers responding to a possible call to action to clear up the shattered glass at Cahills lookout on Cliff Drive. This should serve as another memorable example of how our community cares and pulls together when the need arises. This afternoon I spoke with Matt Chambers of the BMCCs Rehabilitation team. He was very appreciative of everyones offer of assistance, however he also showed concern that an injury could occur due to the shear amount of shattered glass and its location along the cliff where new growth may also be at risk from good-willed people tramping to collect the broken glass. Matt is arranging for a safety-experienced contractor to remove all the glass and rubbish including the engine block! He assured me this would be done sometime next week. As much as I actually prefer the community spirited people-power option with like minded people getting behind the clean up, this is really the best outcome. The number of people who have liked this shout out and the various shares many of you have made is well over a hundred. Id like to thank you all on behalf of everyone concerned and who were prepared to put aside their free time to clean up the area and bring tools and equipment. Those who kindly shared this call out on your own FB accounts, please share this message as well so everyone knows the BMCC is acting on this clean up immediately. We are free to check the progress at the site at the end of next week and Ill certainly make a post following that weekend to keep you all updated. Cheers..... :)
