THANK YOU, GOV. BROWN! Yesterday, the governor signed two critically important new laws that enable cities and counties to build more and safer bike facilities. The laws help modernize Californias outdated design standards for bikeways and provide a new way to pay for bike paths and bike lanes. Outdated standards and a lack of funding are two of the biggest obstacles to making our streets and roads safer for bicycling for more people. Our region needs more and better bikeways -- we look forward to seeing the local governments in our region use both of these new tools.
