THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED TONIGHT WHEN RHS CAME AROUND FOR SIVERRUSH! We truly appreciate your donations. If we missed you let me know! Dallon Yeager or I can stop by and collect your donation in exchange for any odd job you need done. Many have asked for a little more background information on the charity were donating to this year so I wrote this up: Hey guys! Its December and that means its time for RHS‘s nationally recognized charity fundraiser known as SilverRush! Each year we select a charity and work together as a student body for 19 days to raise as many funds as possible. Last year we rose over $126,560 dollars for the Olive Osmond Hearing Foundation bringing the gift of sound through hearing aids to local deaf kids. This year we are working to raise money for The Intermountain Healing Hearts Foundation. All funds will being going to pay for heart surgeries for local kids (like the ones in the video below) who were born with half a heart. If not treated soon, these kids will not live the long healthy lives they deserve. The girl that has inspired us to select this organization as our charity this year is a girl by the name of Mia. When Mia was born she had a heart defect. She stayed in the hospital for 4 months until a baby boy named Jacob was able to donate a heart. She received the transplant and along with it, she got to make a wish with the Make-a-Wish foundation. Her wish was simple; she wanted to meet Minnie Mouse. When she was 4 years old, her family loaded up with the medication she would need to complete the trip her and flew out to Disney World. Upon arriving in Florida, Mia got very sick. The medication she was on was intended to tweak her immune system so her body wouldnt reject her new heart. As she arrived at the nearest hospital, her family was informed that her body was indeed in the rejection process and that they needed to run some scans to find out what stage of rejection she was in so they would know how to best help her. As they wheeled her away, her parents gave her words of encouragement and love. That was the last time they would ever see Mias eyes. During the scans, Mias heart stopped. After the scans, they were able to treat her heart and get it beating again but the brain damage from the treatment was too severe. It was too late. Instead of going to Disney World, her parents and 3 younger siblings had to say goodbye in that hospital room. She never did get to meet Minnie Mouse. Now why would I tell you this incredibly tragic story? So we can save Mias friends and help them get the surgeries they need. Mias mother (who also has a heart defect) is now the president of the Intermountain Healing Hearts Foundation. Our students work effortlessly for 19 days doing many hours of odd jobs and caroling. In addition, we host events and produce products for students and community members to purchase, more then 70% of proceeds going to our Charity. Over 700 people are looking for our help to finance these life-saving transplants. SilverRush has become such a large part of our community that Riverton City has now released a proclamation stating that SilverRush is not only a School-Wide event, but is now a City-Wide Season. If you would like to join us in Healing Hearts #ForMia through SilverRush, you can make an online donation at: https://eps.mvpbanking/cgi-bin/efs/login.pl?access=55554 Help us in spreading the word about Congenital Heart Defects so we can finance these kids live-changing transplants and allow their Their World to Begin Again Thank you sincerely for your support, Video Link: youtu.be/sSpgncruD2w
