THANKING GOD FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS - For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 My friend David Carroll found this video at the WRCB archives and sent it to me. The reporter was Kirsten Gum, a sharp young reporter who went on to national fame with her own television shows on the Travel Channel. Eighteen short years ago, I was ending a political career that had consumed the decade before for me, a time that had seen many battles that I hope brought better things to Georgia. On this night, although I hinted at a return to politics, I really had no idea what was next for me. What I could not have forseen was, in another November just four years later I would be on the other side of the world meeting my daughter and my first son, and within ten years in yet another November I would be back there again meeting my youngest son. I cant envision a life without them, and I dont even want to think about any alternate path that could have happened on this November night. I always hope to remember this valuable lesson about unanswered prayers. I also believe that God has a sense of humor and drops hints, although there is no way you can interpret them at the time... As said my goodbyes and closed up the shop of the campaign office the night of this video (now the location of Don Lolos/Anna Marias Restaurant) and walked alone down Nashville Street toward my truck, I had a brief encounter and words with a man standing alone in the shadows of his shuttered television shop, watching the goings on from his usual distance. In just one year, I think in the next November, I would begin to know him much better, and with him came the start the next direction of my professional life. youtu.be/2c4mLNcLXug
