THANKS! Girls Giving Back! (The following is from their post) GGB has been working on transforming the Solid Ground Broadview shelter for the past several years, they take in Moms and their children to recover from domestic violence and poverty crisis. We just finished the 30th apartment unit and will have 1 more in February to complete the building. GGB just received this feedback from the staff: We just did an Intake for a mom + her 11 year old daughter to move into the unit you just finished. The mom said “Wow! This is just beautiful! When she walked in the apartment. These are my favorite colors! I can get my new start right here! I am going to do what this picture says-“Be your own kid of beautiful” It is beautiful right here. You even have a flat screen TV and DVD player. We will use that! We had no food and now we don’t need any. You have enough food here to last us a long time. Please tell them thank you and how much this means to us “ Her daughter ran to the bed with the Disney character on it and picked it up and said she liked it. She saw the hooks with the welcome sign and hung up her coat. Then she went to the bean bag chair and sat down with a smile. You have made another mom happy and given her hope This is why GGB partners with amazing shelter like Solid Ground. As a community we need to connect and be there for eachother and create opportunities for everyone that needs a fresh start.
