THANKS Tianna Knight My children are my heart. The day they were born is the day God took a piece of my heart and placed it on the outside for the world to see. After I had Mariah I had the hardest time separating from her when I returned to work... I felt like I was leaving my heart behind every time I walked out the door. Everyone told me to give it time, it would get easier, but a month later I would still cry (quietly) in my office; I missed my baby terribly. Then, by circumstance, we came to the Growing Place and met the teachers of Room 1 (the baby room) Room 2 (the toddler room) and then Room 8. It didnt take them long to recognize that I was a first time mother, that I was nervous about leaving my baby, and that I was entrusting them with my heart. As time went on, it did get a little easier, because I knew my baby was in good hands and that teachers in each room had love for my daughter. My favorite part of my day soon became my noon time feedings and end of the day pick up, not only because I got to see my baby girl, but also because I got to visit with the teachers and hear about Mariahs day. They soon became more than teachers to us, and more like friends. We enjoyed learning about them and hearing about their lives as much as we enjoyed sharing ours with them. They shared many great firsts with us, answered a million questions for me, gave me a hug on really hard days, and reassured me when I had doubts. I cant begin to express how thankful I am for the wonderful teachers at the Growing Place and the ladies that were such a big part of Mariahs first years. The ladies of Rooms 1, 2, and 8 were not only Mariahs first teachers, but also my first teachers too (I learned a lot from them as well). So it is only right that I extend my gratitude to them on Teacher Appreciation Week, for all they did for us, and all they continue to do everyday. You are appreciated beyond words. With gratitude!
