THAT NIGHT: (AYOMIDE FESTUS & ADEDAYO ADEYEMI AGARAU) That Night; the nightingale witnessed the proselytization they recited when we were gathered at the square of nothingvile On the night where indulgence was a weed. Elders! The gods are our witness Silented swallowers of rugged silence- Our tears have filled green bottles Rain-cursed before the rain of curses Yet,they tell us we hold the futures scepter How sarcastic! We sat beneath dried palm trees Chewing puffs of deceit As they grant fibs as passes into illusionary tomorrow. We have tales to tell.. Betwixt the clip of oblong jaws Sleep was stolen from our very eyes Who will grab the rams horn For the course of desires relics? A fairy tale of our loner night.. Blooded moon paying homage To the calm nature of our homeland Words waging worthless wars Where wills wag strengthless wave And our valour sits, tied in a private palour The veins of their guns are padded with grains of counterfeit bullets Like the ancient fields of aceldama Foul lifeblood flows; The kind that makes our infertile land fertile Juvenile hopes the graves of golden dreams Humming melodies of mediocre Before playing the music of mockery After those tales had been told. Without our will They gather us every night To share fibs freely; A pass into mirage dreams. #ponder © tohquality
