THAT YOU MAY KNOW THE TRUTH 1 - NIGERIAN RAILWAY AND THE IMPACT ON NIGERIANS: ABUJA RAIL SYSTEM SITE VISIT The way some people go about spewing lies these days is so alarming that one would think we were in a gold-plated Paradise until GEJ came along in 2011 to drag us into a sulphur-burning hell. The cacophony of lies are now reaching a deafening crescendo that the whole situation is now akin to two men arguing about their height IN A DARK ROOM! You can see clearly that such argument will never end and possibly, the truth shall never be known. The light switch seems to have been switched off by a mischievous media in the country, who understandably are owned by certain cabals without conscience. The aim of most of my updates going forward shall be to FLIP THAT LIGHT SWITCH ON so that darkness can disappear and we really know who is taller amongst the two men that have been arguing about their height in the dark. Of course, Deacon mode shall keep you informed of what mischief the new Rev is planning, especially on the church building projects and tithes. The Abuja rail system seems to be the first beneficiary of this series! The trip was in the company of a trusted friend who is watching this update and supported by another reading this update too. It was this my friend, who happens to speak Hausa, that enabled a random interview of a local who was enthusiastic about the project and even opened our eyes to other benefits of the project to other Nigerians that we didnt even envisage. It was he that pointed out the level of rapid socioeconomic development the rail system is bringing to their hitherto unknown hinterland enclaves. When queried about the lengthy of the rail, he was like una go drive tire o! He however had two requests; he appealed to WHOMEVER was doing the rail project to equally provide them with 1) more roads and 2) Water. He said a promise to achieve that would do and that as it stands, hes going to vote for whomever was doing that rail project if he promises to bring the other two items. The interview will soon be on YouTube after its been subtitled in English, cos your truly didnt hear jack in the entire interview that lasted a few minutes. After GEJ wins in 2015, I will definitely go learn Hausa, particularly the Daura dialect, which seems to be the thickest. Deacon is not naive. In the early 70s down to the early 80s, the railways were transporting Nigerians and goods across the country significantly, peaking at 15.5 million passengers and 2.4million metric tones in the early 80s. However, the continual decline of infrastructure and dearth of manpower development to stay in tune with global trends in the railway industry led to a gradual reduction of railway activities in Nigeria till it was near extinct. As at 2001, the rail system was transporting less than 2million passengers and less than 300 thousand metric tones of goods. It is worthy to note that the ROADS WERE DESIGNED TO EMPTY INTO THE RAILWAYS but this was not to be as successive administrations from Buhari to Obasanjo neglected this section of the transport sector till it became virtually non-existent! This downward trend continued till GEJ took over and started to earnestly revitalize that section of the transport sector. The result you are seeing is the brand-new standard gauge railway system covering 186Km from Abuja to Kaduna for which the track laying has completed, orders for coaches arriving soon placed for a while now and inaugural ride scheduled for this month. In this year alone, more than 5million passengers and over 1 million metric tons of goods have been transported on these revitalized railway system! This is one of the reasons to #VOTEGEJ2015. He clearly have succeeded where others failed, including former dictator, Buhari, who couldnt do a single thing on railways even with the close to 200 Billion Naira Abacha handed over to him through PTF! For those asking #WetinGoodluckDeyDoSef, this is part of it! Within weeks from now, MILLIONS OF NIGERIANS will have the option of AFFORDABLE, COMFORTABLE & SAFE transportation alternative, unless of course those that own private jets. Equally, this is not a knee-jerk approach as there are plans for mass urban rail system in Abuja and connecting ALL STATE CAPITALS as evidenced by recent feasibility contracts awarded in this regards! My own is just that they should ensure laws to prevent hawking on those coaches is enacted cos from my experiences so far, those fellows can really bring one to that point of wanting to pour strong super-glue over their mouths! You can take a look at these! railwaysafrica/blog/2014/12/09/abuja-kaduna-tracklaying-completed/ Note the failure of Obasanjo in this railway regards in the article below. Recall hes the Navigator of a certain political party. railwaysafrica/blog/2014/12/09/rail-projects-nigeria/ 85% completion was stated at around June this year by a reputable foreign news agency english.cntv.cn/2014/06/17/VIDE1402962481865956.shtml thisdaylive/articles/fec-approves-n272m-for-abuja-mass-rail-project/194590/
