THE 5th CORA PUBLISHERS FORUM Date: Thursday, 13th November 2014 Time: 10am - 4pm Venue: Goethe Institut, 4th Floor, City Hall, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island Theme: Innovations in Publishing: New Approaches to Sales and Marketing The publishing industry is undergoing radical changes globally with new opportunities and new challenges opening up. Publishers must find ways to navigate disruptive technology to maximum impact and effect. This one-day forum brings together publishing professionals to interact with our expert facilitators and engage on new industry trends. The forum will provide a comprehensive assessment of sales and marketing opportunities and a broad perspective on emerging trends appropriate for the Nigerian context. The day will provide principals of publishing houses with the tools and skills to grow their business, maximize sales opportunities and identify strategies that are practical, implementable and financially viable. The programme will include a mix of topics and formats such as presentations, interactive exercises and small group discussions. The forum will focus on: • Opportunities presented by the digital revolution for book discoverability, sales and reading • Why traditional sales channels continue to be a significant aspect of sales and marketing strategy • Developing a sales and marketing strategy that blends print and digital • Building an effective sales team • Creating synergies between publishers and booksellers • How to design an effective social media and email marketing campaign About CORA Publishers’ Forum The Publishers’ Forum was conceived in 2010 to provide a space for publishers in Nigeria to gain critical insight into their current operations within the context of the challenges facing their industry, brainstorm on their findings and identify key steps that can be taken as individual businesses or as a collective to improve their bottom line. At CORA, one of our goals is to build capacity and knowledge in the Nigerian creative industry space.
