**THE 7 PILLARS OF GREAT NUTRITION** Got a great email this morning. At the end of it Lisa summed up her confusion with this question: What im wondering is if all the high protein and limiting carbs and sugar is really the best way to go? I work in healthcare and everyday see people ill and I wonder if there is really any best evidence for optimal nutrition for health? I wanted to keep my reply concise and to the point. This is what I came up with on the fly and it turned out to be a pretty good summary, looking back on things now... *** There is certainly no one diet for everyone. So many variables. BUT there are some things I think all good approaches have in common: - eat LOADS of vegetables - drink plenty of water - limit sugar to occasional treats - eat good quality animal foods - cook your own meals - dont be overly restrictive - slow down, chew your food and enjoy eating Do those and you cant be too far off no matter what diet you follow. Sleep, stress and relationships are WAY more important than carbs or fats will be. Get the basics in place and then worry about the details. *** Thoughts? Agree?
