THE A.P.C PRESIDENTIAL TICKET 2015: BUHARI, ATIKU AND KWANKWASO WHO WILL FLY THE FLAG OF THE PARTY AND DEFEAT THE JONATHAN? (5) (The political comparative analysis) By Abbati Bako, psc, bsis, mti,Kent,UK .Continuation Rabu Musa Kwankwaso HAPPY SALLAH TO ALL MUSLIM-UMMA ALL OVER THE WORLD The 59 year old Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (the current Governor of Kano State) may be the next President of Nigeria in 2015. Spring doubts may come into the mind of some readers of this writing. Because to many, Kwankwaso is the least expected to be President of Nigeria compared to Buhari and Atiku (the two political giants/icons in Nigerias politics). But one thing must be remembered, the Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, the late Umaru Musa yaradua in 2007, the Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 were (all) least expected to lead the Nigerian nation compared to the other heavy weight politicians on the other side. This is the reason why Professor George Friedman observed in his book (The Next 100 Years, USA, 2009) Conventional political analysis suffers from a profound failure of imagination. I understand that in the past 54 years of Nigerias independence the least expected people become leaders of the country. Second, the past 18,19 and 20th century the world witnessed leaders of older age; from 70 years and above. But by the end and the beginning of the 20th and early 21s century the world began to see the emergence of younger leaders, especially in Europe and North America. There has been an argument among world eminent scholars that by the emergence of globalization policy; why has the world started to see the emergence of younger people at the helm of the affairs of global leadership? The Clinton, the Bush (junior) the David Cameron, the Obama, the Jonathan of Nigeria and the Shepshenko of Ukraine etc. In social sciences (politics inclusive) there are (certain) criteria that must be observed before analyzing any issue. 1. the past 2. the present 3. the future. Experts assert that the future can be predicted. How? By analyzing the past, the present and then seeing the possibility of what will happen in the future. As said above, most of the people that become leaders in Nigeria and (even) other nations are the unexpected (former Brazil Silver Delulars tenure and leadership is a shining example of monumental economic development/achievements,reduction of poverty among 35m Brazilians and it placed Brazil among the top ten economies and even ahead of UK; although the economy is now sliding). The emergence of Nigerias former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 was unimaginable and unbelievable. But it happened and is now history. He got that opportunity because of his past record that he handed over power to the civilian regime as far back as 1979 (before even the emergence/implementation of globalization policy in the world). Then, the emergence of Jonathan as Vice President in 2007 and President in 2010 after the demise of Umaru Yaradua. Even the election won by Present Jonathan in 2011 (Jonathan comes from a minority tribe from S/South oil rich area as also Obama of USA from the minority African American) and remember that democracy is a game supposed to be played and won by the majority and in principle, the minoritys voice must be listened to. To be candid, no politician/leader can emerge as President or Prime Minister in any nation around the world without the support and endorsement of global leaders (USA/Western world, we are now in an USAs centric-age). But the conditionality for support and endorsement of politicians to lead their nations doesnt happen in few countries such as N/Korea, Cuba, Iran and so on.So, Nigeria is not an exception that politicians in Nigeria must seek support and endorsement from western leaders having seen them (western leaders) as political and economic stakeholders. It is the globalization policy that designed this as McLuhan observed that the world is now the global village. The 3 key principles of globalization are integration of global economy, democratization and multiculturalism (the Chinese, the Indians, Brazilians and so on, has flooded our nation and as Nigerians also flooded S/Africa, Saudi Arabia, USA, Britain and other parts of the globe). George Friedman says that North America has replaced Europe as the center of gravity in the world, and whoever dominates North America is virtually assured of being the dominant global power. For the twenty-first century at least that will be the United States.
