THE AGONY OF EL-ZAKZAKY I have taken My time to write this so that I would not attach emotions to my write up and so that I will not appeal to your emotions but to your reason. The Peaceful turned bloody protest embarked upon by Shiite Muslims led by El- Zakzaky and the attendant bloodletting is What we cannot forget in a hurry. Yes I feel sad that the young men lost their lives. Infact I felt cold for days even when I did not know Zakzaky in person and I do not belong to his religion. I am a follower of Jesus the Christ. HOT HOT NORTH At a point I felt so strong that Zakzaky be made to face a criminal trial. What am I talking about? The North is both hot and volatile now. Killings everywhere, bombings and abduction everywhere. If there is any time for sober reflection as a people, this is it! In the hot hot North, with the rate of killings , Zakzaky brought out people to join him in a protest against Israel attack on Gaza, while Boko harm attack on Chibok brought mothers to their knees and the entire nations to tears, his voice was not heard! He chose to lend his voice to charity abroad, when home was on fire! I weep for the nation. People die every day in these attacks but we heard nothing from him. ZAKZAKY S ROLE AS AN ISLAMIC CLERIC As an islamic CLERIC who had carried out protests for decades like he claims, why was his voice not heard condemning killings in the name of Allah? Fear? Wickedness? Indifference? Cowardice? Hmm... You see, the man died in him, who failed to speak up in the face of tyranny! I stand that as a cleric, he is the voice of Allah on earth to his followers. He should have spoken for that for which he is enthroned. His first duty is to Nigeria, perhaps , voices like his would change the heart of a wicked manslayer or a would-be manslayer. Perhaps God was not impressed with him for his silence on Nigeria. THE LIKELY EFFECT OF HIS PROTEST IN THE HOT HOT NORTH The LIKELY effect his protest, even if it did not turn bloody, is that the polity would be further heated up. Anger could further go against the non -Muslims. The bombing and killings could further be aggravated, because the season is not ideal for such. THE ARMY. The army claimed it retorted in self-defence. While we may go on and on condemning the army, I only blame them for one thing: going for such an operation without using camera. If their ammunition and regalia were fully decked with camera at strategic positions then we probably may be dragging Zakzaky to the court by now! CONDOLENCES My condolences to everyone who lost persons in the incident May this form of occurrence never repeat itself. I feel bad for the death of Zakzakys sons. It is an irreparable loss.
