THE ANOINTING Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus 2 Timothy 2:1 Christ is grace beyond measure. Like a reservoir that empties itself through water pipes, Christ empties His grace into His people. Of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace John 1:16. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ John 1:17. He gives grace out of His infinite mercies. He stands as an infinite fountain, always supplying grace to the empty pitchers and thirsty lips that come to Him. Like a tree bearing sweet fruit, not to remain on the branches but to be picked by all who are hungry, Christ bears grace to pardon, to cleanse, to preserve, to strengthen, to enlighten, to quicken, or to restore, and it is free. There is no cost. It is generously offered to all people. The blood pumps from the heart, but it belongs equally to every part of the body. Likewise the influence of grace is the inheritance of every saint. We all receive the same saving and sustaining grace. This is the reason for the sweet fellowship between Christ and His church. Christ is the head on which the oil was first poured, and this same oil runs to the hems of the garments. The poorest saint has anointing from the same costly oil that fell on the head of Christ. The sap of grace flows from the stem to the branch, and the stem is sustained by the same nourishment that feeds the branch; thus we have true fellowship. As we daily receive grace and recognize it as coming from Jesus. He has fellowship with us, and we enjoy the pleasure of fellowship with Him. Make daily use of your riches in the covenant.
