THE APPETIZER NOW COMPLETE...ONTO THE MAIN COURSE THIS WEEKEND During any weather event, I always like to focus on the event at hand and not look ahead to any future storms, even when they are lined up one after the other. Our clipper today provided a few inches of fresh snow for all of South Jersey and provides a tease for a bigger storm that continues to look increasingly likely this weekend. Todays forecast worked out nicely, now onto a likely more challenging one for Saturday with a bigger coastal low well have to deal with. Since were on the cusp of the latest overnight computer model cycle, and since Ill likely be up the next three hours to see it through, Ill post my thoughts about the Saturday storm around midnight. Now that being said, I still think its a brief shot of snow Friday night to rain for a time(perhaps extended time) Saturday, then back to snow on the back side of the storm as it departs. Its on that back side especially where we could pick up some accumulation, but how much is dependent on track and strength. And I still hold my belief the greatest snows with this system will be along and north/west of the I-95 corridor, farther inland away from the warming influences of a stiff onshore breeze off a relatively warmer ocean. I likely wont have any number ideas until Thursday evening at the earliest(depending on model agreement or discord). But I will have some extended thoughts out in a few hours... In the meantime, drive safe tonight with some slick roads and patchy freezing drizzle and black ice possible. A calm in between storms the next two days, and plenty of time to assess the next threat. The one for early next week(now looks like Monday instead of Tuesday) is also still on the table too in case you were wondering, but as always, one at a time...
