THE AUSTRALIAN FORUM FOR TEXTILE ARTS, LTD. (TAFTA) OPEN HOUSE at the Geelong FORUM 2013 is SATURDAY MORNING, October 5th Everyone is welcome at Geelong Grammar School, Corio Bay (Victoria) from 9am-12noon – and it’s FREE (The Trading area stays open longer, to 1pm) It is possible to buy lunch ($10 only) at the Dining Room Door – lunch is served from 12-1pm on the Saturday. Kirsty’s ESPRESSO TO GO will be operating in the vicinity of Darling Hall where you’ll find many Traders (also in nearby classrooms – maps provided). OPEN AFTERNOON at Geelong Grammar is WEDNESDAY OCT 2nd There are Free Talks by two of the Tutors in Bracebridge-Wilson from 1-2pm: Ilze Aviks from the USA (Expressive Stitch) and Susan Lazear, also from the USA (Clothing and the Cloth that Makes It) View the TUTOR exhibition in Sinclaire Mezzanine Gallery, see the installations in the grounds, and spend time in Trades Hall and at Kirsty’s Espresso Coffee Van. N.B. If arriving any day besides Saturday October 5th park in the main carpark and drop into the Maintenance Building for a campus map – or email to request one in advance: [email protected] To RE-CAP about the OPEN DAY (October 5th ): Arrival: arrive any time after 9am; you will be guided to the Visitor Parking Lot and provided with an Open Day site map. Workshop Wonders: ‘Sinclaire’ will house displays of works made in the various classes of the FORUM which is convenient as a major exhibition is also there - Tutors of the FORUM - works from Australian and overseas artists. Some Workshop Wonders will also be displayed in the Main Dining Hall. Heathen Bazaar: the Main Dining Hall is where you’ll find the Heathen Bazaar, an array of exciting hand made goods provided by the stall holders (participants at the FORUM) who sell at bargain rates. Merchants: Darling Hall is again the starting place for Traders of the FORUM – some Traders will be in classrooms as well – the Open Day site map will make this clear. PUBLIC WELCOME ALL WEEK…… it is possible to visit at any time during the week, from 8am-5:30pm. While there is much to see during the week, you may NOT drop into classrooms ; those who have enrolled for workshops must have their privacy and space protected) – the Open House is the best way to see what wonders have been produced in the FORUM classes during the week, as they will be displayed.
