The actual cause of His death was the crushing weight of the sins of the world--your sins and my sins. We are guilty of His death. It was for us that He prayed, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing,--as well as for the Roman soldiers and the religious leaders who wanted Him dead. The mental anguish, the mental pain that Christ endured, was so much greater than the physical pain that, when He died on the cross, He cried out, My God, My God, why have You forsaken me? (Quotes throughout from Prophecy Made Easy and from my tract, “A Life of All Power.”) . (1)He could have wiped the great drops of blood from His forehead. . (2) He could have left us to die. . (3) He could have gone free! . “In the garden of Gethsemane, Christ could have even then refused to die in our place. It was not yet too late. He could have wiped the great drops of blood from His forehead, and left us to die. He could have gone free. He could have said, ‘Let the guilty sinners receive the penalty of their own sin, and I will go back to My Father.’ He had that choice. He was innocent. He was sinless. He did not have to die. It was entirely His choice. He thought of you and me and made His final choice. He chose, if necessary, to be forever separated from God the Father. He made that choice for one reason and one alone. God loves you! It was love for those He made that guided His final decision. Sin had brought death, and He, the Eternal One, chose to enter this world as a little baby boy, live a sinless life, and die in place of guilty sinners such as you and me.” Ibid. . “His final decision is made. He will accept the baptism of blood and spit and sweat and tears and shame. He will save you at any cost to Himself. In submission he trembles and prays, ‘My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done. Ibid. . And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. O My Father, if it is possible let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. . . O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done. Luke 22; 44, Matthew 26:42. Ibid. . The best Christmas gift was purchased with something worth more than all the gold and silver and riches of Planet Earth and of all the other millions of Planets in this entire universe, the BLOOD of Jesus. Jesus promises you that “God so loved ______________ (put your name in here) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 . “Then Pilates soldiers took Jesus into a building. They made a circle around Him and took off all His clothes. There He stood, completely naked. The soldiers took their whip, with pieces of metal embedded in it, and lashed His back until the blood flowed freely. Then they put a purple robe on Him. They twisted a crown of long, sharp thorns and jammed it down on His head--and placed a stick as a mock scepter in His right hand. They bowed their knees and mockingly worshiped Him, shouting, ‘all honor to you, King of the Jews!’ Then they spit on Him and took the stick and struck Him on the head, driving the long sharp thorns into His head, causing blood to run down His face and beard. Then they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.” Ibid. . The soldiers stripped Him of His clothing again and, after crucifying Him, divided up His clothing among themselves. Christ lay down naked on the wooden cross. The soldiers drove nails through His hands and feet and then lifted the torture device, the cross, and let it fall into the hole prepared for it. This caused the most extreme pain to the Savior of the world.” IBID. . The wounds made by the nails tore the flesh in His hands and His feet as the cross thudded to the bottom of the hole. . Rulers, religious leaders, people and soldiers passed by the cross, mocking Him and saying, If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross. You trusted in God--so let Him deliver Him now if He will save Him, for He said I am the Son of God. Even the robbers who were crucified with Him said the same thing. If you are the King of the Jews, save Yourself. . The wounds made by the nails tore the flesh in His hands and His feet as the cross thudded to the bottom of the hole prepared for it. The nail wounds gaped, and blood drops landed on the earth beneath the cross. Christ prayed Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do. . A sign was placed over Him--written in Greek, Latin, and Hebrew--that said: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.A dying thief found the key, the secret to a life of ALL POWER! . All of a sudden the sun seemed to be blotted out of the sky. From noon until 3:00 p.m. there was a strange darkness over all the Land. And about 3:00 p.m. Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me? Psalm 22:1. Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, Father into Your hands I commit My spirit. And then He breathed His last. Immediately, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom by the unseen hands of an angel . There is a Divine Science; it is a Science That Everyone Who Would Make His Lifework a Success MUST UNDERSTAND. Christ says, Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24. He makes it plain that our asking must be according to Gods will; we must ask for the things that He has promised, and whatever we receive must be used in doing His will. The conditions met, the promise is unequivocal. {Education, page 257} . prophecymadeeasy/chapter33.htm . Jesus says to you this Christmas - “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. And Gods word tells us if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:7-9. . Jesus tells us how much you are worth. You are worth more than all the gold and silver in all of creation. Jesus, the Son of man, the Son of God - would not have shed His blood for silver or gold but for one lost sinner, for you alone, He shed His blood that you might have everlasting life. Jesus has purchased everlasting life for you. He wants you to reach out and take the power of His life that He gives you through each of His promises. Each promise is meant for you personally. God personally gift wraps each gift He offers you. Each promise is like a beautifully wrapped gift and God wants you to have the gift within each one of His promises. Let’s see what the most translated American author in the world, E.G. White, has to say about this most precious secret that God wants us to understand. . GOD WANTS YOU TO RECEIVE THE GIFTS, HE HAS PLACED IN HIS PROMISES . In her book “Education,” we read, “How to exercise faith should be made very plain. To every promise of God there are conditions. If we are willing to do His will, all His strength is ours. Whatever gift He promises, is in the promise itself. ‘The seed is the word of God.’ Luke 8:11. As surely as the oak is in the acorn, so surely is the gift of God in His promise. If we receive the promise, we have the gift.” {Education, page 253 - whiteestate.org/books/ed/ed30.html} . “Faith that enables us to receive Gods gifts is itself a gift, of which some measure is imparted to every human being. It grows as exercised in appropriating the word of God. In order to strengthen faith, we must often bring it in contact with the word.” {Education, page 253} . “In the study of the Bible the student should be led to see the power of Gods word. In the creation, ‘He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.’ He ‘calleth those things which be not as though they were’ (Psalm 33:9; Romans 4:17); for when He calls them, they are.” {Education, page 254} God creates new lives in you and me through His promises. Before He speaks “it is not done.” After He speaks, it is done.” He created the universe by speaking it into existence and He creates new hearts and new lives out of our broken hearts and our broken lives through the power of His Word, His promises. “How often those who trusted the word of God, though in themselves utterly helpless, have withstood the power of the whole world--Enoch, pure in heart, holy in life, holding fast his faith in the triumph of righteousness against a corrupt and scoffing generation; Noah and his household against the men of his time, men of the greatest physical and mental strength and the most debased in morals; the children of Israel at the Red Sea, a helpless, terrified multitude of slaves, against the mightiest army of the mightiest nation on the globe; David, a shepherd lad, having Gods promise of the throne, against Saul, the established monarch, bent on holding fast his power; Shadrach and his companions in the fire, and Nebuchadnezzar on the throne; Daniel among the lions, his enemies in the high places of the kingdom; Jesus on the cross, and the Jewish priests and rulers forcing even the Roman governor to work their will; Paul in chains led to a criminals death, Nero the despot of a world empire.” {Education, page 253} . TODAY YOU MAY RECEIVE THE GIFT OF “THE NEW BIRTH,” THE GIFT OF EVERLASTING LIFE . In the book, Ministry of Healing (whiteestate.org/books/mh/mh7.html) we read, “The same power that Christ exercised when He walked visibly among men is in His word. It was by His word that Jesus healed disease and cast out demons; by His word He stilled the sea and raised the dead, and the people bore witness that His word was with power. He spoke the word of God, as He had spoken to all the prophets and teachers of the Old Testament. The whole Bible is a manifestation of Christ.” {Ministry of Healing, page 122} . GOD SPEAKS TO YOU PERSONALLY THROUGH EACH AND EVERY PROMISE IN HIS WORD, THE BIBLE . “The Scriptures are to be received as Gods word to us, not written merely, but spoken. When the afflicted ones came to Christ, He beheld not only those who asked for help, but all who throughout the ages should come to Him in like need and with like faith. When He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee;’ when He said to the woman of Capernaum, ‘Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace,’ He spoke to other afflicted, sin-burdened ones who should seek His help.’” Matthew 9:2; Luke 8:48. {Ministry of Healing, page 122} . “So with all the promises of Gods word. In them He is speaking to us individually, speaking as directly as if we could listen to His voice. It is in these promises that Christ communicates to us His grace and power. They are leaves from that tree which is ‘for the healing of the nations.’ Revelation 22:2. Received, assimilated, they are to be the strength of the character, the inspiration and sustenance of the life. Nothing else can have such healing power. Nothing besides can impart the courage and faith which give vital energy to the whole being.” {Ministry of Healing, page 122} . CHRISTMAS GIFTS FROM JESUS – ETERNAL LIFE AND A SUCCESSFUL LIFE . (1) NUMBER ONE we must “behold the lamb of God” dying in our place. “Spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit. If we would be saved at last, we must learn the lesson of penitence and humiliation at the foot of the cross. As we associate together, we may be a blessing to one another. If we are Christs, our sweetest thoughts will be of Him. We shall love to talk of Him; and as we speak to one another of His love, our hearts will be softened by divine influences. Beholding the beauty of His character, we shall be changed into the same image from glory to glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18.” {Desire of Ages, page 83 whiteestate.org/books/da/da8.html}. . (2) NUMBER TWO - We must learn, believe and claim God’s promises for “it is in these promises that Christ communicates to us His grace and power. They are leaves from that tree which is ‘for the healing of the nations.’ Revelation 22:2. Received, assimilated, they are to be the strength of the character, the inspiration and sustenance of the life. Nothing else can have such healing power.” Ministry of Healing, page 122. It is in these two secrets of success that we become “born again” and “walk” daily with Jesus. See and understand these two principles involved in the “new birth” in my tract “A Life of All Power” - prophecymadeeasy/chapter33.htm . After revealing the secret of a life of all power through God’s “exceeding, great, and precious promises,” (2 Peter 1:4) E.G. White quoted several promises. Read these promises below that the author quoted on pages 122-124 of Ministry of healing. Read these promises and remember that the Son of God who bled for you has purchased the gifts that we receive when we grasp the promises as our own. Read them, memorize many of them, realizing that God wants you to have the gifts He has placed in these promises and you may have them by reaching out and grasping each promise and the gift within each promise. . God speaks to you personally through the following promise He makes to you personally. Listen to God speaking to you. “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God . . . Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you.” Isaiah 43:1-4. Learn to believe and claim the gifts within these promises by reading, highlighting, and copying and pasting chapter six of Steps to Christ into a file. Learn this chapter well and you will know the secret of claiming the gifts in God’s “exceeding, great and precious promises.” whiteestate.org/books/sc/sc6.html In 2 Peter 1:4 God tells us that He has placed His “Divine Nature” in His “exceeding, great, and precious promises” and that we can have His Divine Nature by claiming His promises and “escape the corruption that is in the world through lust.” . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.” Isaiah 43:25 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. ”Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.” Isaiah 43:5 . For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” Psalm 103:13-14 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your charms to alien deities under every green tree, and you have not obeyed My voice,’ says the LORD.” Jeremiah 3:13 . Listen to God speaking to you. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, And like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” Isaiah 44:22 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “’Come now, and let us reason together,’ Says the LORD, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.’” Isaiah 1:18-19 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.’” Jeremiah 31:3 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14:1 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, and a cover from the tempest, as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” Isaiah 32:2 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “The poor and needy seek water, but there is none. Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.” Isaiah 41:17 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “Thus says the LORD who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you: ‘Fear not . . . My servant; . . . whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.” Isaiah 44:2-3 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” Matthew 8:17 . God speaks to you personally through this promise. Listen to God speaking to you. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 . ANOTHER PROMISE – God spoke through John the Baptist saying “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29. And as you behold Him taking the whip lashes and thorns and nails and blood and death that your sins deserve (Romans 3:23; 6:23) you will be “changed” “transformed” just as surely as blocks of hard cold ice are melted, changed and transformed by beholding the face of the SUN – and when you behold the SON bleeding and dying in your place for your sins that He might give you the most expensive gift ever given, eternal life purchased with His own precious blood – you will be “melted, changed and transformed.” Our problem we just don’t take the time to look long enough and often enough to be “melted, changed and transformed.” “we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18. . preparingforeternity/hd/hd06.htm This chapter from Steps to Christ, also known as Happiness Digest, tells us that God wants us to “reach out your hand and grasp” the gift of everlasting life that Jesus bled and died to give to us. Won’t you, this Christmas season reach out your hand and take the gift of everlasting life that Christ is offering you right now. He knows you are a sinner. That’s the very reason He chose to die the death your sins deserve so you might have the life he deserves. “It is peace that you need--Heavens forgiveness and peace and love in the soul. Money cannot buy it, intellect cannot procure it, wisdom cannot attain to it; you can never hope, by your own efforts, to secure it. But God offers it to you as a gift, without money and without price. Isaiah 55:1. It is yours if you will but reach out your hand and grasp it. The Lord says, Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you. Ezekiel 36:26. . “You have confessed your sins, and in heart put them away. You have resolved to give yourself to God. Now go to Him, and ask that He will wash away your sins and give you a new heart. Then believe that He does this because He has promised. This is the lesson which Jesus taught while He was on earth, that the gift which God promises us, we must believe we do receive, and it is ours.” Steps to Christ (and Happiness Digest) page 49-50. . (3) The third secret of a successful Christian life is found in understanding where we are in Bible Prophecy. The increase in wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes are signs that Christ is coming soon! The world’s final stupendous crisis is very near. Only the Bible reveals what this final crisis is and how to prepare for it. God’s last three warning messages of Revelation 14:6-12 reveal accurately what is soon going to happen. Only those who diligently prepare for what will soon take the world as an overwhelming surprise will then be successful. Why did Jesus (in Matthew 23) twice call the religious leaders ‘blind guides, and twice call them “Fools and blind? Why didn’t they accept Him as the fulfillment of Bible prophecy? God’s word tells us that “Satan . . . deceives the whole world” (Revelation 12:9) Satan deceived them into perverting and misunderstanding Bible Prophecy. They expected the Messiah to come as a lion with mighty power and crush the Roman armies (Psalm 50:1-3) and He came as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Are the religious leaders of our day less blind? Not according to Jesus. Jesus compares the religious leaders of our day with the religious leaders of Noah’s day who stood outside the ark laughing at Noah and as a result of their blindness were destroyed in the flood. “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24:37-39. Today many religious leaders are expecting Jesus to return as a lamb, in a secret rapture but Christ teaches us that He is coming as lion. “He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” . “The solemn messages that have been given in their order in the Revelation are to occupy the first place in the minds of Gods people. Nothing else is to be allowed to engross our attention.” 8 Testimonies, page 302.1} . . “Our message is a life-and-death message, and we must let it appear as it is, the great power of God. We are to present it in all its telling force. Then the Lord will make it effectual. It is our privilege to expect large things, even the demonstration of the Spirit of God. This is the power that will convict and convert the soul.” {Vol. 6 Testimonies, page 61} . . God loves His people and doesn’t want them to remain blind like the religious leaders of Christ’s day. He called them “blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” Matthew 15:14. Christ tells us that the Christians in His last day church of our day “say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that” they “are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” Revelation3:17-19. Jesus called the religious leaders 2,000 years ago as “blind leaders of the blind.” But today He says that His last day church is not only blind but “wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked” and say that they are rich, wealthy and have need of nothing.” Perhaps we should rethink our “superior knowledge” that we hold and cry out to Jesus for spiritual eyesight. He tells us to buy from Him His “gold . . . white garments, and anoint your eyes with eye salve that you may see.” What does He mean? He means we do not sense our real need or we would be “continually coming to Him just like the widow in the story Jesus told in Luke 18:1-8. We would “cry out day and night to Him, speedily.” That is how Christ describes those who possess “faith,” Do you want more answers SPEND (Remember He tells us to BUY) a thoughtful hour a day beholding the Lamb of God in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Give Him time to melt your heart daily. And finally His instruction is “Be zealous and repent.” Revelation 3:19. Christ is telling you that “zeal” is not an option, it is a requirement. If you don’t have it ask Jesus and He will give you the gifts of zeal and repentance. Claim His promise today. Pray “Father forgive me for my lukewarm Christianity. Take away my blindness that I may “hunger and thirst for Spiritual eyesight and the gift of Your Holy Spirit and for a knowledge of the life of Christ, that I may walk with Christ through a daily study of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Help me discover the wonderful gifts that You have placed in Your promises for me and help me to claim and receive them. Help me to spend time learning Your prophetic message and forgive those leaders who are not seeking to learn and teach Your prophetic message, for You promised ‘ask and it will be given.’ I ask and thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus name, Amen. . Jesus answer to our spiritual lukewarmness is “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.” Revelation 3:19. He says “”I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore BE ZEALOUS AND REPENT. But we say “Zeal is not cool.” Right on – Zeal is hot! Jesus does not have a place for “cool Christians” in heaven. He has a place for those who choose to “be zealous and repent.” Won’t you choose to stand out from the crowd? Ask Jesus to give you the gifts of “zeal and repentance” and He will do that for you. .
