THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB. TEACHERS’ RE-TRAINING BILL. He will sponsor a bill called Teachers Re-Training Bill in Imo State. In addition to recruiting a new generation of teachers and principals, we shall institute a deliberate programme to train and retrain teachers. VOCATIONAL/SKILLS ACQUISITION INSTITUTIONS BILL Establishment of Vocational or Technical Colleges, one in each community, for skills acquisition especially in areas/aspects in which the State or communities have comparative advantage. This would meet the educational needs of those who are naturally endowed in those aspects and also those who find themselves outside the pipeline of mainstream education. COMMUNITY SERVICE BILL A programme of Community Service by students of Tertiary institutions in their own towns and villages and surrounding communities – e.g. assist in teaching primary and secondary students; carrying out community projects, is also proposed by the committee. Participants to be paid stipends and the service offered is to count as points in other identified endeavors.
