THE BIG QUESTIONS ON THE FULL-TIME WORKING STATUS AND QUALITY OF OUR LAWMAKERS: •What are our lawmakers at the National and State houses of Assembly actually doing to warrant their continuing to work full time? •Is there any real justification for their full time working status? •Is there anything they are doing presently that they cannot do working part time? •How many times do they sit in a month to warrant the waste of several billions of naira on them each year? •How many of them are even useful in the various legislatures? •How many of them, in terms of functionality, can justify their membership of the various legislatures? •How many of them have ever sponsored or co-sponsored or contributed to the consideration of a bill or motion ever since inaugurated. Most of our lawmakers nationwide today are uninformed, uneducated, unexposed and indolent ignoramuses who have no business whatsoever being in the various legislatures. I AM NOT PARTICULAR ABOUT ANY LEGISLATURE OR LEGISLATOR. No, far from it. Let these legislators be paid only allowances now and let the non-performing ones be replaced during the next party primaries or be voted out during the general elections. Lawmaking, which is the work of the legislators, consists, IN THE MAIN, in making laws and sponsorship of motions. Any legislator who has not proved his mettle or discharged himself creditably in this respect should honourably bow out and give chance to competent people. Enough of uneducated, uninformed, ignorant and indolent legislators in the various legislatures.
